Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive lung disease that causes difficulty breathing and can make it difficult to perform everyday activities. Symptoms of COPD typically include a persistent cough, increased mucus production, shortness of breath, frequent respiratory infections, and chest tightness. Diagnosis of COPD is typically done through pulmonary function tests, chest X-rays, blood tests, and imaging tests. Treatment of COPD includes lifestyle modifications such as quitting smoking, avoiding environmental triggers, exercise, and taking medications. In more severe cases, supplemental oxygen therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, and surgery may be recommended.
